Ruhr metropolis is the new name of the Ruhr area. Germany‘s largest metropolitan region - after Paris and London the third largest conurbation in Europe - has become established in the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia. 5.2 million inhabitants live and work in a radius of only 50 km around the fair venue, Essen. A radius of 250 km covers large parts of the German population as well as the entire population of the Benelux countries. This region offers a high investment potential for the construction industry: every year, over EUR 200 billion are spent on construction - one third of the entire European building volume.
